WEC 48 Results: Aldo Defeats Faber

Uriah Faber Vs Jose Aldo
Jose Aldo got the best of Urijah Faber in the striking game through the first two rounds by keeping Faber just out of striking range while doing major damage to Faber’s left leg with leg kicks. The third round was more of the same as Aldo continued to throw brutal leg kicks, with Faber showing no answer to Aldo’s attack. In the fourth round Faber tried unsuccessfully to take Aldo down and was instead taken down by one of Aldo’s leg kicks. Aldo then took Faber’s back, Faber was able to escape and attempted a guillotine, which Aldo easily shrugged off. After a few more desperate takedown attempts Faber again fell to the ground after taking a leg kick. Aldo followed him to the ground, worked to a mount, and then to a crucifix position where he tried to pound out Faber with elbows and punches but Faber, thanks mostly to the generosity of the ref and was saved by the bell. In the fifth round, neither fighter offered much, with Aldo giving Faber a few more leg kicks. Most of the round took place with Faber on his back and Aldo standing over him, with ten seconds left in the fight Aldo just simply turned and walked away.
Jose Aldo leg kicked his way to victory, wins 5 round domination decision and Uriah Faber limps away in defeat. (49-45, 49-45 and 50-45)
Jose Aldo looked outstanding, my only issue with the fight is Aldo could have finished the fight but instead held back knowing the decision was going to be his. I almost think he was respecting Faber by sparing him unnecessary punishment.
Prelims presented us with some great fights, they almost stole the show especially the Garcia vs Korean Zombie (fight of the night). So what do you think?
Gamburyan KO of the night, Henderson sub of the night

Antonio Banuelos vs Scott Jorgensen
In a bantamweight bout, Scott Jorgensen and Antonio Banuellos put on an excellent fight, that saw Banuellos get the better of Jorgensen in the first round. However Jorgensen battled back, and took control of the fight for the second and third rounds, earning a unanimous decision.
Jorgenson showed improvement and wins via decision over Banuleos who showed heart.

Manny Gamburyan vs Mike Brown
Gamburyan showed surprisingly good striking and eventually knocked the heavily favored Brown down with a big right before finishing the former champion off on the ground. To many times I have underestimated Manny’s ability to win fights and I think finally Manny might get the respect he deserves.

Benson Henderson vs Donald Cerrone
Henderson made quick work of Cerrone, starting with good clinch work and knees early. He then took Cerrone down, from there he worked some ground and pound. Cerrone attempted to stand up, during the scramble he gave up his neck allowing Henderson to lock in a tight guillotine choke
Ben Henderson, finishes the fight quick in the first with a Guillotine choke. Didn’t expect that.
