What is Military Combatives?
In 2001, Matt Larsen, established the United States Army CombativesSchool at Fort Benning. Students are taught techniques from the 2002 version of Field Manual 3-25.150 (Combatives), also written by Larsen. The regimen focused on small, easily repeatable drills, in which practitioners could learn multiple related techniques rapidly.
About the admin- As mentioned above I am a retired US Army Veteran with 21 yrs of service and two combat tours in Iraq. I first became interested in MMA in early 2005 during my Recruit Drill Sergeant Training course. One of the training requirements was to attend a level one Army Combatives course. Once I started the training I was instantly hooked and later went on to complete the level two instructor certification, took Hapkido lessons and trained over 1800 soldiers in basic grappling techniques (believe me when I say basic, I mean basic). I also began to watch and and keep up with the professional sport of MMA and learned that Joe Rogan did something other then comedy and Fear Factor. I have gained a high level of respect for the athletes that dedicate themselves to the sport and put it on the line to get in that cage. I like to roll and learn new techniques but basically as just a hobby. By no means am I an expert and actually hope that maybe this site will allow me to meet others who also enjoy the sport whether its sitting on the couch supporting MMA, someone who casually trains on the weekends, or someone who is actually out there competing.
Enjoy the site!!!
